Day 4 Connection Begins
Today has been much better. I realize Dave doesnt want the feelings part in our blogs but hey I just felt like I finally made connections with the past educational days. Redefining what was what (tools, strategies, activities etc.) and trying to organize our book pages was a good activity and was something that had to be tackled.
Day 3
Day 3 was better. The information and directions for the discussion forums, moodle and teaching strategies were good. Unfortunately it is all coming at once and try as I might I find I lose some of the instruction. The material offered in 3hours is goood and will be beneficial, I would just like say thank goodness for the BOOK. This resource will allow me to go back and read, try and implement one at atime and at my own pace. I realize the course is short and the material must be covered but boy or boy, at the end of each day, the old brain needs a recharge.
Day Six - Web Goodies
I LOVE Wordle. I think it may be the most fun thing that has been introduced so far ;0)
I enjoyed the ustream webcasting. I do wish we had known who would be in the webcast. i may have been prepared with a related question. I guess if I had a question I would have thought of it on the fly anyway. I did find it interesting trying to follow the chat and the webcast at the same time. I was rarely contributing to either, but I was taking in what was being said on both feeds.
Day 3 ... Strategies and Moodle
Strategies: In Kevin Quinlan's strategies class, I learned, I believe, much about teaching strategies. From that class, I remember him talking about scaffolding but I can't recall him calling it a teaching strategy. Personally, when I consider the word and what we decided it may mean (within our group activity today) I believe that scaffolding is 'life.' Everything I have done during and since childhood has served as the building blocks for the things I can learn and/or do today.
Day 3 Are we learning or are we building knowledge or do we doing both
One of the things that I have been thinking a lot about today is are we learning or are we building knowledge or do we doing bothdo we learn or do we build or do we do both and most importantly how does this apply to students activities in our programs. It is evident from how we are progressing in this class that there is focus on not only using the technology as a way to learn but also build knowledge in the process. How can we engage students to not only learn but build something that their classmates, future classmates or anyone else can take advantage of?
Presentations day 6
Donnie and Jennifer's presentations on Moodle and twitter was done quite well. Donnie's look at Moodle and the many uses of this technology for our classroom can be great for storing tests and quizs. My only concern is getting the neccessary computer time. I also would look at using this for my students to create a question each for the quiz.
moodle quiz
Using the moodle quiz for classroom application is something that i believe I will be using in the fall and has unlimited possibilities. Below I will give a brief overview of how to set a a multiple choice question quiz
1- start by selecting under create an activity choose QUIZ
